Welcome to Breaking Cycles, home of hip-hop and physical performance artist Benji Reid..

Breaking Cycles welcomes new Executive Producer…
David Morgan has now joined the Breaking Cycles team as Executive Producer.
David was previously General Manager with Suspect Culture, a contemporary theatre company based in his home town of Glasgow. Over the last five years he has been involved in touring new theatre work throughout the UK and Europe and has also been involved in developing both film and visual arts projects. He has co-produced shows with the National Theatre of Scotland, Graeae Theatre Company, Drum Theatre Plymouth, Brighton Festival, Tramway and The Tron.
Dave was really keen to send his personal message to everyone who follows Breaking Cycles:
“I’m really thrilled to be getting involved with Breaking Cycles at this exciting stage in the company’s development. I’ve been blown away by Benji’s vision as an artist and his ambitions for where he would like to take the company. I can’t wait to start helping him put his ideas into action and I’m really looking forward to getting to meet everyone who helps to make the company a success – both collaborators and fans”

… and says goodbye to Lisa
Sadly David will be taking over from General Manager Lisa Eaton who is due to finish up at the end of December. Lisa has been involved with the company since it first started out 4 years ago in Leeds and has been instrumental in getting the company to where it is today.
Over the next year or so Lisa is going to be focusing on her work as a Creative Producer in Leeds and is going to be teaching Events Management. We’re sure that all of you would like to join us in wishing Lisa the best of luck with her future projects. We’ll miss you!

The Devil Has Quentin’s Heart - TOURING AUTUMN 2009

Benji Reid returns to the stage with an explosive new production from Breaking Cycles. Riding on a roller coaster to redemption Benji performs a rich cocktail of guilt and fear, exploring the stark realism of substance abuse and fractured relationships.

The Devil Has Quentin’s Heart - that was the price Quentin paid for success. He had it all riding high as an ultra-successful trader on Wall Street but betrayed and framed for fraud he discovers life in the underbelly of New York as an alcoholic living on the streets. He sees that greed knows no limits and makes one last wager to save his soul. This is the story told on his last day, in his last hour, before Satan comes banging at the door.

The Devil Has Quentin’s Heart is a twisted, funky and perverse modern day tragedy that explodes the nature of performance, storytelling and dance.

Devised and Written By Benji Reid, Peader Kirk and Ray Shell
Based on characters from the novel ‘Iced’ by Ray Shell
Directed By Peader Kirk
Performed By Benji Reid
Musical Composition and Performance By Andrew Wong
